Dear Mother
I now take my pencil in hand to write you a few lines. I am well and hope that these few lines may find you enjoying the same blessing. We are now preparing to leave here our orders were to pack up and get two days rations so that we could start at any moment. the eighty ninth left this morning for cincinnati and the 5th is preparing to leave also if called on. We dont know whether we will go or not but / hold ourselvs in readin if called on. as i have no more to write i will draw my letter to a close but still remain your affectionate son.
