William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 18 September 1862
Sep 18th 1862
Dear Brother I received your letter but not with the same joy as the others. I was sorry to hear that mother was sick but hope that by the grace of god she may get well again I am enjoying good health and hope that these few lines may find you the same. We have easy times of it now We have got our tents now and are pretty well fixed. We do not have anything to do but stand guard and cook for it is so hilly that we cant drill. We have got marching orders and will have to leave before long so I have not much time to write. I wish you would send me a dozen postage stamps for they are scarce here As I have no more to write I will draw my letter to a close by asking you to write soon and let me know how Mother is. Farewell.
