Alvin L. Bone was born around 1844 in Ohio to James and Adrian Bone. His father was a carpenter who owned $950 of real estate by 1850, and he died on August 11, 1851. Bone grew up and attended school in Turtle Creek, Ohio. He married Mary E. Winfield on February 23, 1870, and their son Edgar was born around 1871. He worked as a farmer in Turtle Creek, and by 1870, he owned $16,000 of real estate and $1,500 of personal property. He moved to Defiance, Ohio, in the 1870s, and he worked as a carpenter there. His wife died in the early 1880s, and he married Amanda E. Koch on October 23, 1884. Their son Clarence was born around 1887. They eventually returned to Turtle Creek, and by the early 1900s, his neighbors considered him a “very prominent resident.” He died in Lebanon, Ohio, on February 7, 1911.
