Dear Brother,
Kentucky finds me on her soil again attempting to scribble you a few lines. yesterday morning I was laying on my cot not thinking of leaveing it for some days yet, when the Doctor came along hunting out men to come there, and he turned to me saying if you want to go you can. at first I was going to say no but the second thought I concluded to come, as I saw he was willing / We left Nashville at four A.M. and arrived here at four oclock this morning. The ride was more comfortable than I expected for they said I would have to sit up, but the worst of us had bunks with good straw beds to ride on so we rode easy and had a chance to sleep. My wound feels as well today as common and is healing fast. My health is good also and i am begining to fatten up. There was quite an exciting time in Nashville for a few days. Wheeler got within eight miles of the town and they armed all of the convalesents and / every body that was in the government employ for to meet him, but he took a scare and broke towards home like all other cowards and thieves would do. but Rosseau was still after him the last account we had of him. the weather has been warm and sultry for a few days past. I believe there is no news of interest that I could write but what you got in the papers, so I will bring my scribling to a close by wishing you all well.
Yours truly
W H Bone To A L Bone. /
