Still in the old camp at Gallatin.
 
Dear Brother
                        I received your kind letter in due time and was glad to hear that you were all well and in good spirrits. I have excelent health and have had since i recovered from that spell of sickness in the winter. The weather continues good here it is pretty warm at noon day but from twelve in the night untill sun up we have to wrap up in our blankets to keep comfortable. the boys are in good health and are doing finely. Ely Wilson expects to start home in a few days on a furlough. he has been sick for some time past. he says if he goes home he is going to give you a call for me. there is not much going on in camp now we capture a few prisoners evry once and a while. there is 75 men gone out on / a scouting expedition now i dont know how they will suckseed there was four hundred infantry one hundred Cavalry with 75 wagons went out on a forageing expedition last friday I was along We went out eight miles the other side of hartsville which was 24 miles from camp and we filled the wagons with corn and oats and got back sunday afternoon some of us go out evry week now. there has been another promotion in our company our second Lieutenant is promoted to first Lieutenant in that company in cincinnati And sergeant Barlow in company D is our second Lieutenant. I think you must of had a great oald hunt it is worse than we done last spring. there is plenty squirrels here but we dassent shoot them. I received a letter from jeniah yesterday he is well. Elias Bone is well also they both write to me. No more this time it is writen so poorly and the ink is so pale i dont know wether you can read this or not.
