William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 9 March 1865
Camp Dennison, O.
March 9th 1865.
Respected Brother,
This thursday afternoon finds me trying to pen you a few lines. The last letter I wrote to Uncles I remarked that I had a position in the dining room and expected to keep it as long as I remained here. I have not, I soon got tired of it and gave it up. the duty I was doing there was to wash dishes, which I found after giveing it a trial to be rather harder work than expected it to be, and I had the privalege of quiting whenever I saw fit, so I concluded that as I had come into the hospt for treatment I would not do any duty voluntarily. We expect to be payed off next week / The men that are here on duty were payed this week.
Tell Emma that I cannot think who that girl is that she keeps writing about and I want to know who it is for curiosity's sake. I received that money that you sent me and would like to have a little more if I thought we would not be payed off next week. I guess you may send me two $ if you please. I have a plenty but there is a boy here that has almost a new blanket that I can buy for half price. the full price is seven Dollars.
I believe I have nothing more to write this time more than I am well. my sore is forming a scab over it. I think it will soon heal up. a discharge is imposible for me, but I will not have to go to the front again.
Your soldier Brother Wm H Bone
