William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 6 October 1864

Affectionate Brother
I suppose that you will be looking for me home when you get this but my opportunity for getting there looks rather poor at present. there was a war meeting in camp last evening they said that there would be pools in camp so that all could have a chance of voting. I understand that there was an order ishued from the surgeon General that all soldiers in hospitals / that were able was to go home and reside there until after the Presidential election so that they would vote at both elections, but from some cause it is not obeyed here. I hope you will not feel disappointed because I did not get to come. My health is good and my wound is healing slowly. I have nothing more of interest to write you to day.
Most truly yours
Wm H Bone.
