William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 12 June 1864
June 12th 1864
Dear Brother
I will try and scrible you a few lines this sunday morn, but cant write much for it keeps raining so that I am afraid I will get drowned out. It has been raining every day for a week. the boys keep in pretty good spirits and keep their health well. I have had a pretty bad cold but am now getting over it. the last letter I wrote I said the rebs had skeedadled so they had but they only went about six miles to another range of hills where they now are. we came up to / them on Monday evening and built breast works but did not fight them just lay and watch them. we have been laying in the same place ever since. other troops moved in ahead of us and have been fighting them some. Well as it is raining so and you get all the news about the movements of the army in the papers I will close by wishing you all well.
Affectionately yours.
W H Bone To A L Bone.
