William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 30 January 1864
Jan 30th /64
Dear Brother,
I have not much time to write but promised to say something. We expect to leave tomorrow morning. It commenced raining this morning and I am afraid we will have a muddy time of it.
I have concluded to keep my boots for it will be bad marching with shoes. the Colonel said we could, and my vest i will keep untill spring then if it is worth any thing send it home. I wish you would tell Kate Evans that I got her picture and am glad to get it. I would write her a letter if I had time but / I have not. I have nothing more to write more than I am harty and able to stand the march.
Direct your letters to me by the way of Nashville until I tell you better.
Write soon,
From your
Brother
Wm H Bone.
to
A L Bone.
