William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 26 July 1864
July 26th 1864
In field Hospital at
Vining station Geo.

Dear Brother
I will make another attempt to write you a few words and let you know how I am getting along. My wound is doing finely yet pains me but very little. I had a severe ride yesterday from the hospital where I was here a distance of 7 miles the roads were smooth and the Ambulance drivers took great care but still it would joss some and hurt us. / yet this morning my wound feels as well as before. We expect to be put on the cars to day and go back farther. I am now in a tent where there is seven wounded rebs and five of them have their left legs taken off. I never saw a lot of men so cut up as they were there is not more than one out of a dozen but what he has from two to 7 bullet holes in them or their leg off. there is but very few of us that has more than one shot in us. there was a tremendous sight of them killed and died / of their wounds I dont know the number that was killed and taken prisoner. you will be apt to find it out before I do through the paper I can think of nothing more to write at present. I cannot tell you where to direct your letters yet but will write as soon as I stop to stay.

I received my hat on the [paper hole] it suits very well.
No more at present
your Affectionate Brother
W H Bone.

A L Bone.
