William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 8 May 186X
Wauhatchie, Tenn.

Dear Brother
I will make another attempt to write you a few lines. I wrote Uncle a letter yesterday but to day the orders came for us to be ready march at five in the morning and I thought that I would write you a letter to day and wait untill morn before I put it in the office and then I could let you know for certain about our leaveing, or I shall wait untill the latest moment before I seal it. I have no news much to write you /

I have a kind of an evry day shirt stud that I made out of Laurrel root off of Lookout mountain and I do not want it, so I will give it to you as a remembrance of me. Alvin such a sabbath as this I have not witnessed in the army. it is a beautiful spring day evry thing seems to show the goodness of God. We had preaching this morning by a Presbyterian preacher and a good sermon it was too. after preaching we had sacriment. that was something strange in the army but our chaplain believes in doing every thing he can / and as near as he can as he did at home. he labors hard for the interest of the men. I believe God will be with us the same here as he would at home in the finest church. I will close for to day and if we leave I will drop you a few lines with the lead pencil at the latest moment.

 Good by
Affectionately
Your Brother
