Dear Mother, Brother & sister
I will once more seat miself to pen you a short misive in regard to my health. I am and have been very well since my short visit at home. My wound has ceased to heal again. it looks about the same as it did when I was at home on furlough but not near so bad. What causes it I cannot say unless I run about too much. I try to keep as still posible, but it hard to lay still all the time. /

Oh! Dearest of Friends on earth, I have witnessed one of the most affecting scenes to day that ever I saw. I cant see why all men dont repent and believe on the Lord Jesus, when they have such great evidence of his healing power, before their eyes.

A wounded man in my ward has the Gangrene in his foot and ancle so bad that the flesh is almost all eaten from the bone, and the Doctors burnt it out this morning. It pained him so bad that he felt that he could not live long and he felt as if he could not die, unless he first found peace in a saviours bosom. he went to work in earnest and prayed, and had the boys to kneel around him in prayer then sen for the Chaplain to talk with him. / he came and pointed him to the saviour, and prayed with him, and now he says he is happy in the peas of the love of God.

Mother I have never felt as I have since my return from furlough in all my Christian experience. I thank God that he has spared my life so long, while I have been so careless and unconcerned, and now I have determined by the grace of God to be more faithful in my duties toward him. last night one of the boys took up the cross and we had prayer. We will try and keep it up, and I ask an interest in each of your prayers. Let us all be faithful to him, for the fervent prayer of the Rightous availeth much. /

I received a letter from Frank st John to day. he is well. he said that he had received a letter from Alvin not long since. it is the only letter that he has got from any of the warren County friends for a long time and has written several to them. he says if they cant condecend to write a soldier they may let it alone.

No more at present. hope this may find you all well.

Good by,
Your son and Brother,
Wm H Bone.
