William H. Bone to Alvin L. Bone, 15 November 1863
Sunday Nov. 15. 63

Dear Brother
As I try to write you a letter evry week I will write one to day although i have nothing much to say. You wrote me a letter stateing that Elias Bone was in Nashville, do you know what hospital he is in. As there is some twenty hospitals in town it would be difficult for me to find him unless I knew what one he is in. We were payed off / last week two months wages. I will send $20 or $23 home with Andy this week. Did you get a letter that i wrote you wanting you to send me some butter and molasses along with Ben. you did not say anything about it in your last letter. If you did not and have not sent things with them, you may let it go for i did not care particularly about it, only done it to accommodate the boys and thought it would be a good chance to get it cheap. /

Gen. Ward had his Brigade (of 5 Regiments) out in line last friday to practice loading and firing blank cartridges. It was a good deal of fun to stand there and load and shoot without any bullets, but i should not fancy standing before the rebs and let them shoot at us as fast as we shoot. Our second Lieut has been dismissed from the service in disgrace. I have not heard what he has done that he had to be dismissed. It is rather a disgrace to the seventy ninth. But i am glad / that he was not with the company. it will be that much better for us. he was down in the front in charge of a Pioneer corps. His name is Henry Barlow. I believe i have nothing more to write.

If you know what hospital Elias is in write immediately for i want to know.

Yours truly,
Wm H Bone
to A L Bone.
