Dear Mother
I am a little behind writing to you this week i generaly write on sundays but we were expecting to be payed off and was busy on sunday so that i could not write very well I am well and harty and hope that these few lines may find you all enjoying the same precious privalege. We have had beautiful weather here for two weeks past. I was on guard last night and it rained all night but i had a ruber blanket which kept me dry I stand guard about evry third night now. our duty is pretty heavy at present. Cretors got them things last sunday our company got one barrel of potatoes one bu dried apples ½ bu dried peaches ½ bu onions ½ gal appl butter ½ gal canned apples and 3 gal sour crout. but / that is all eat up now I wrote to you to send me a box of goodies but you cannot send them now for Gen Rosencranz ishued an order that there should be no more boxes expressed for a while We were payed off yesterday i got $89.25 all in two dollar bills. I owe the suttler eight dollars i spent right smart with him when i was sick for goodies and then i owe Mr Eagle $4 for drawing our knapsacks and i will keep $13 and send $64 home by Andy Atkinson he will leave it at W C lewis Store it is in Uncle Williams name and my name is H Bone on the envellope instead of W H Bone thought that i would tell you for fear it might make a disturbance. Andy is going to start home tomorrow the 25th and will be home satureday if nothing hapens. No more at present but remain your affectionate son W H Bone.
