Sunday July 19th/63
Well J. M.
It is sunday afternoon, and i thought that i would write you a few lines, to let you know how we are getting along and to pass away the time. The boys are all well except the most of us have the spring feever to day. Ben jeffery is no better i think he will get a furlough before long and come home. the captain is trying to get one for him dont know how he will sucseed yet.
It is very warm i think it will rain to night. We have curious weather here it is so warm in the day that we almost suffer and at night there is very heavy dews and gets so cool that when we stand guard we have to put on our blouses and wrap our blankets around us to keep warm. Well the rain is coming and i must hurray and get through / how is Morgan getting along up there say it is the best thing that ever happened in ohio it will give you all an idea of war and waken you up or i dont mean you but them copperheads so they will do something for their country.
I heard that about thirty of his men passed through town and out past your house is it so or not, did he do any mischeif or did he pass through civily.
He played a sharp trick on the train above camp Denison.
I hope you have him captured by this time, the old 79th wouldent want any better fun than to get after him. the hardest marching we ever had was after him in Kentucky. Well Milton how is all the girls getting along up there. the wind is begining to blow and it is going to rain so i must close for this time. write soon and let me know about Morgan, and how you are getting along. From your
Cousin W H Bone to J. M. Dill.
