Dear Mother
I have not much time to write but will let you know where I am. We received orders last monday to march but as we had been fooled so often I thought that I would not write untill I knew it to be so. We started on wednesday morning for Bridgeport a distance of about one hundred and thirty miles where it is thought that we will remain for a while. We march slow and easy for the roads are good and there / is no hurry 10 miles a day is as fast as we go. I did not get that box but Col Kennett said that he would have all boxes sent on to us he stayed at Nashville on buisiness. I sent my boots and vest home you will find them at Lewis's store. If the boots will fit Alvin he may wear them out for they will not pay to send back. Well I have nothing more to write that I can think of only that I am well. when I left Nashville my weight was one hundred and eighty lbs (180) so you may judge for your self wheather I have had my health or not. Andy Atkinson can tell / all about me. I must close
