Dear Mother
Another sabbath morn finds me trying to scribble you a few lines somehow this appears more like sabbath to me than any one since I was wounded. all nature seems to be calm and quiet as though every thing was determined to praise its heavenly Father. Oh how I should like to go to Church and hear a good sermon. but I cannot and I trust that God will bless me the same here on my cot as he would at church. /

I am getting along very well. my wound is healing up nice. I know it would astonish uncle to see how it has filed out. it has got so that all of the matter will work off and look as bright and clean as can be. I sometimes feel like getting up and walking but then it might iritate it and bring on disseas again. I can sit up with out it hurting me. There was about one hundred and seventy five (175) sent from this hospital to Louisville last week. But dock thought I had better stay here a while longer. he wont send a man off if he thinks there is any / danger of him getting worse. Emma wanted to know my nurses name tell her that I dont know myself any more than what we call him. that is Jake. We have had beautiful weather this week. there was two or three good showers that cooled the air and made it pleasant. I believe I have nothing more to write that would interest you without writing a great deal, and that I cannot well do at present. So I will close by wishing you all well and enjoying a good and happy time. Yours Affectionately
