Dear wife I now take the oppertunity to write to you and let you know I am in good health and about our journy down to dixey and now i must tell you about our Ride we started from Albany last friday night we got about a half mile down the river and run on a sand bank and staied there until one oclock in the morning then went down to new york we staid there about one hour and then changed boats and went to South Amboy and took the cars for philadelphia and then took a boat to baltimore and from there we took the cars to washington and from there took the boat to alaxandra / and now we are in camp I wish you was here to see the camps and soldiers I think you would say that you never saw such a sight in your life we have a good lot of boys in our camp and they are all jovel and hapy we didnot get our cloths until the afternoon we started from the barracks so I had to leive mine you must Derect your letters to Isaac Stafford company H 43 regiment newyork State voenteers Washington Distrect of culumbia

In that way you must put it on the envelopes now I must tell you about the way that we sleep thare is tents large enough for two and eich one has a blanket so we lay on one and under the other we have a vlouse a dress coat and over coat last night Bread and coffey and this morning we had coffey and Bread I would like to see you and little mary very much I have no more to write at present but write as soon as you get this you must excuse my writing I still remain your affectionate husband Isaac Stafford /
 
Send me word if you got that town bounty or not do not send any thing unless you send your and sindys potigraph and try to let father know about whare i am and tell david that I wish he was with me but I will not encurdge him pray that we may meet again here or if not in heaven
