Hagerstown October 22 1862
 
Dear wife I now take my pen in hand to inform you that I am very well at presant and hope by the time that you receive this letter from me it will find you in good health this now makes the forth letter that I have sent to you and have received no answer from you but I thought that I would keep on writing untill I do get answer any way I begin almost to think that you dont mean to write but I hope not any way we expect the Albany county Regitement hear before long they will encamp clost by us it is beginning to be alittle cold hear now a days we are under marching orders but dont / know wend we will have to go the talk is that we will have to go to Virginnia and thair we will take our winter quarters James Van wormer and Alexander is not very well at presant William Tygard has bin in the hospitle but is now with us hear he is so that he can walk on his leg again with a cain this is about all that I can think of at presant
 
I almost forgot this I should like to have you send a letter to father to see how they are ageting along tell me in your letter /
