Dear Wife. as i have not received a letter from you in two week and 4 days and having sent 3 in the mean time i thought that i would send you another one to see if you would answer that if you do not think it worth an answer why just send me some postage stamps and i wish you would send my drinking cup if it is to be found as for them shirts why do not send them yeat but wait untill further ordors if you want to know how i am you must send an answer to this letter we have broken up our winter camp and moved in summer quarters but i know not how long i shall remain hear not over a week or else all summer the new Generl that we have got is no man for cavelry and i suppoes that we will not have the honor of fighting much their is some talk of our holding this point this summer but i do not know how much truth their is in it but i hope that is the truth we have a much nicer tent hear than we had in the old camp and no mud from the time / of my last letter it has rained ever day but 2 that is ever other day yesterday we moved camp it does not take as long to move as it does you i expect that you will be moved by the time you get this by the news that i get in other letters i get none from you i did not think you would forget me quit so soon i would like you to move to Harlingen but to Brigs Point never i hate the sound of it as bad as i hate to die besides you will not be by any place to get anything no mill no store it will be the bore of your life unless you board i hope to get an answer to this one any how for i want to know wether my buisness is settled if you do not want me to rite to you tell me so do not stop writing for then i think you do not get my letters i have never heard wether you got that watch or no i sent it 3 weeks agoe i think you ought to tell me who would ever thought that i get more letters from strangers than from my wife wat have i ever done that you treat me thus do tell me and i try to do better i answered Mr Gardner / letter the other day the only reason i think you have not forgotten me is the mail has not come in severel dayes on acount of the Bridges being washed away between hear and washington but to day if they do not come i know that you will not send me any more i would like you to find out wat has become of the ballance of my bounty Father sent me a letter said he went to trenton and paid Dunn his bill was $67.62cts and i owed him for that leather wat we bought in pardnership just $34.05cts and fifteen i boured of making

Making in all one hundred and sixteen and dollars sixty seven cents then out of four hundred (you see the figgars at the end of this to take one hundred and sixteen dollars and sixty seven cents you have just two hundred and eighty three dollars and thirty three cents left but wat he has done with the ballance i do not know and you know that i am to proud to ever ask him and i leave it to you to find out if you can you can tell him exactly by this letter wat he owes me perhaps he has forgotten i have it all right no mistake and i would like to know wat became of it but do not tell him that i sent unless you have to you know that wen i come home that will be quit a little sum of money to go to houskeeping with now i hope this will find you well you must look at the moon and stars for the same shines on me as on you i look at them last night and wonder wether you see them i think this ladie look a little like my dear missey H H Covert            from you ever loving Husband
