Wednesday April the 13 1864 Camp near Warrenton
Dear Wife
i receivd a very welcomb letter from you this afternoon and was pleased to get it and i shall send you a few lines i sent you a letter yesterday and i only send this to let you know that i am well and feel very good i like it very well in the service very well i am glad to hear your well and sorrie to hear the baby is sick you must move if you want to i would like you to if you can go to Harlingen you see that the rent is cheper and no one to see or growl you i think had better move the store house is better than that room you better keep the money you have on hand untill you get one installment of your state pay you must do with it you know just as if you had no husband suit your self then no one can blame you i do not know wen we will get any more money but as soon as we do why i will let you know i do not know anything about wat you expences is i do not know wat it cost you to live and you do i am glad Mary has got one hen set has she got her set on her own eggs i am glad the old gentelman has got good luck with the dog then he will be satisfied to keep her i hope he will get a good price for them the more the better the watch i sent but i do not know wat has become of it i hope it will all come right yeat i did not give much for it at any rate i bought it of a fellow that was hard up he had no money and i give him nine dollars / but it was worth twenty five i sent your father a letter but i do not know wat has become of it i wish you would ask him if he got it i sent it to Harlingen i shall send him another as soon as i can tell him all the news tell him i would like to see him and i shall right to him as often as i can as i do not suppoes he will write tell him to take good care of you tell all the rest of them to write and i will answer all their letters tell George that he must not forget me i can not write many more letters untill i get some postage stamps you must must send me some for i have borred postage stamps untill i can bourrey no more do send me some you can buy none hear i sent pool a letter the other day my candle is out good bye
