My Dear Wife
i receivd your very welcomb letter the 23rd and was very much pleased to hear from you and i thought i would wait until after we was paid we was paid this afternoon and i have sent one hundred and thirty dollars to you by a Mr Cook he will put in the bank and you can draw it i got one hundred dollars in seven thirty bonds if you get the same wich i hope you will why keep the bond and show it to no one it looks like a $100 bill but is very large and has five little strips on the right hand end with the same number as the bond if you get it why keep it it drawes interest two cents / a day and you can draw the interest evry six months by cutting off one of them little strips and going to the nearest bank they may pay you in state money that is the bank at wich you get the cheque tell them wen you pressent it that you want goverment seven thirties for one hundred and the rest you can take in any good monney as you will use that but the other hundred try and get the bond for if you can it draws the biggest kind of interest and no danger of losing your monney if you get it just write down the number and put it away in a safe place not with the bond but in some good place so if you ever lose the bond you can get it again by keeping the number you can show it to father he will tell you all about it you had best get him to take you to the bank and you can then draw it / i gave a bond and i think i ought to draw the same kind of monney as i send show this to father he will know all about it wen you get this i wish you would let me know as soon as you get the monney if you get all state monney you had better put it on interest right off as it will draw interest sooner and i want to draw all of that i can but get the bond if you can for that is drawing interest now tell father he must get the bond for you if you he can for then their is no more trouble but to draw the interest evry six months if you do not understand this get father to explain it to you now i expect befor you get this you will get one that John Hustwaits brings you tell him i did not get paid until the 25th i have got two old friends hear with me John Van Arsdale & John Sulivan / both from Millstone they come for one year i am getting along very well now but still in the doctors hands the bugle has blown to put out the light so good night i am dreaming of my little wife evry night now good night my little wife write very soon and tell me about your pay i have not got your letter yet from Dismounted Camp but i heard it was their
