My Dear Wife and little Boy Minney
How do you do to day my Dears
                        I received you letter the other day and it pleased in all things but you said my boy was sick i am so sorrie but i cant help it i hope he is better i shall not write you a long letter but a good one you must not worrie i have got an apitite like a steam saw mill but my direaher is got down to nine times a night that is pretty good thes cold nights a fellow wants time to get his shoes on and coat but never mind by this time i expect you have got a good warm shirt done for me you can get that cheque cashed by any one that has got money enuf you can go to New Brunswick with mother and get it / as soon as you do get it i want ten dollars of it we dare not keep much monney by us at a time they steal it and if we happen to get hit some one takes your monney and ten chances to one you never see it again i guess you will not have to move very often not as often Poor becky if she did get such a moddle man she has not got any children yet if she gets them and the man she has got she will begin to know then i wonder if she ever thinks of wat she said i would if i had been in her place i think she will not say any thing about your man going to war and leaving you any how if she does he provides for you better than hearn if he is to the war were all good men ought to be John Hustwaits i expect will bring the gun back wen he is done with it if he keeps it to long go and get it that is all i think to day i must write to / your father i have got no stamp i wonder if he will care if i do not pay the postage if he does you pay it you would lauf to see us down hear cook and work with our old black cups and pots and pan i have got severl letters to write to day no news only we do not picket by the rebs wat shoots the pickets we are after the deserters in the rear they tell som rich stories i tell you but they will not go down with a old soldier last night their was a man died in Co A he went yesterday to the doctor and he got their a little to late and the doctor would not give him any medicin and last night he died so much for sich doctors he is not much of a doctor but our steward is good one the man wat died was one year recruit John Van is tenting with sutphen the boys plague / him so he says he is married to that girl up to Neshanic and he sends his monney to her he paid me and i sent most of my money home so i would not lend it a body ought to keep money by him to if one had he can buy things at quarter their value some times now wife i wish you could send me a paper of good mustard if you will i will think you are one of the best wimmen in the world just if i did not now o how do sleep nights cold i think of you evry night i am as warm as ever but not so big and fat but wen i come home i guess you will know me i am going down to city point wen i get that monney and get my pictur taking to let you see if you know me i have got both of yours now if you want them or one of them say so in your next
