Dear Little wife
I receivd two letters to day one from you & one from Newark from M L Ward he says he has asked for my transfer and i expect soon to get it so do not think so hard of my being away from you and i will have a good position hear if i do not get transfered i will be clerk and then i can stay a long time if i wish but my leg will not let me go to the field again i am thinking my Dear you should be very thankfull that i am no worse than i am you must not think of crutches for me i can go quite well just about the same as wen i left / only i can walk any distance now you should see me Ha. Ha. evry body likes me hear i belive and I try to like evry one but i do not like the place no way i wrote to you yesterday and to day why you at least will get plenty of letters it is getting dark and I will have to quit and go at it when the gas is lit i send you two papers with this and now my Dear how are you Oil wells did pool strike ile ha ha by golly i told the Esq he would be home in a week By Dad ha ha how i will laugh wen i see him i am going to write to the Esq and tell him how are you Oil wells but what does pool say is he tirde of oil or has he still oil on the brain he swore / he would not come back until he was mayor of a mint of money but i guess he has done with making monney out of oil how i would like to see him by golly i would how i would plague him i must write a letter to him but i guess i will wait a while and see if he does not write to me i think he is just as able to write as me & i know he is a good writer if he wanted any thing he would write but i suppoes he does not want any of my things i am sorrie you let them keep all my things i never told you to get them but i thought you knew but never mind that is nothing if you are left wen i come home wont i be proud guess so we are getting mustered for pay to day / and sunday we will get mustered to day we having making out the Rolls and we have not got them done yet but will have by Sunday this is such poor tips that the pen will hardly write but i guess by the time you get this it will be black enuf when you first make a mark you can hardly see it but after a while it begins to show and then you can read it good ink to write wen any body was looking but as i like some a little darker why i shall get next and you will be able to make it out if you look sharp now my missey good By i hope you will write very often but i am affraid you do not answer all of them how ever i suppoes you are very buisy and tired but i got plenty time and so good by my Dear Wife & Boy i would like to sleep with you Ha Ha
