Mr Buttlers Dear Sir
I seat my self to converse with you in the silent language of the pen I do not no wheather it is exsepted but I will full fill my promis. I must tell you how I like Indiana I like it pretty well so far I have got a nice peace of land Miller and I bought each of us 40 Achor & the railroad runs through one corner of it and it is just about one mile from the station & it is good timber land the wood cost 2 dollars & half a cord on the farms I will tell you how much I had to payed for it I payed 500 hundert & fifthty for it & I might of got 900 hundert for it again the land got high lately Miller and I together put out 16 bushel of wheat / and we have a little orchat on it & we have another clearing to put out some corn & potatoes. I like the land here better than I did in Milwaukee I will let you know the market price a good yoke of oxsen cost 140 to 150 dollar a good cow cost from 30 to 40 dollars pork is 15 dollars a hundert beaf is from 6 to 7 dollars a hundert butter 40 cent eggs are 30 to 35 cents a dozen corn is 10 shilling a bushel wheat is was at the hiest 2 $ 60 cents marsh hay is 12 to 15 dollars a ton a good wagon cost from 100 to 100 & 10 dollars a common plow cost 9 dollars the goods and hardware and such thing is about the same price as it is there aples is 100$ a bushel potatoes is 100$ a bushel I can tell you that I can use my gun here there was a deer on our hay stack not long ago / here is plenty of wild dugs and wild geese and the quails sets around like tame chickens I kiled a good many patrick there was a man kiled a deer here yesterday and here is a good place to go fishing I can tell you that it is easier to work on a farm here than it is there we dont use no hoe to hoe our corn we use shuvvel plows and a horse to do that a good horse cost from 140 to 150$ I will tell you what kind of wheather we had here we had some pretty colt wheather we had good sleighing ever sence two weeks before Christmast till now the snow was about all melted but it is getting colter. well Mrs Buttlers I must tell you a little about my self & how I am getting along I dont use no medicen of the doctor and I feel better now as I did there. please let me no how it is with Mrs Woodjeck & her old man let us no wheather Godlib Novock is maried yet please let me no how Mrs Schuetz is getting let me no wheather old John bier & his wife is keeping house again I will close fore this time we all send our best respects to you our children send there best respects to your children please write soon and tell me all the news you no off Wilmina S
well miss kate I must tell you a little about my self I am well at present and I hope you the same blessing I have been at home all winter only kept house fore a family one week they went to Michigan they said there was a man came home from the army he was the only son of a family when he came he kiled his Father & Mother & his wife he said he kiled his parents because he wanted there property & kiled his wife because he wanted another one I guess he is kiled by this So no more please write to me Dory Felten
