Dear wife I received your leter 15 I thought by your L you had not received my two last I should have ritten oftener but my health has ben so poor I did not energy enougt to rite I have had a bilous actack we had a hard time about the time of the fight the next night after we had to lay without blankets or tents you say the report was that Casey Division ran iff they did fall back they did not do it enny two quick we held the enimy in check near three ours until we was flank on booth sides so the bulets was comeing three ways / enny one can see by looking at the list of our kild & wounded that we did not fall back enny two quick unless they wanted us all kild or taken prisoners the Country ought to hold those high in authority to ancount for leting us bee in that exposed place with so few men since the fight they have had four Division to hold the same ground that our little Division was expect to hold & half of them on fatige or Picket I suppose you have seen Colonel Plaisted report that is a fair report there was quite a little up on our old ground our folks drove the Rebs back quite a distance acrost a large field there was a pice / wood betwen us & the field we could not see enny of their movements until they come out of the wood our little Regiment is encamp 11miles from Richmond we are beside the railroad we fell back to get recruited up a little I am sorry to have to notef you that you will not get enny more money from me for for the two month to come Captain Cole has gone home & carried our Muster Rolls with him so we can not get musterd in for our next two month pay my pay will a mount to more now I am Color Sargent I have got tired & must close give my love to the Chrildren & all my friends
