My dear friend 
Porter Brant I take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well at presant and I hope that this letter will finde you enjoying the same blessing I received your letter last sunday just one week ago today I was then in Pongatiegue Verginia We have bin off on an expadition to the estern shore of Va We first landed at Nue Town Md from there we marched 12 mildes to oak hall where we/ stayed 3 or 4 dayes and whill we ware we took two cannon From there we marched 26 mildes to Drumington where we stayed 3 dayes and took 7 cannon one morter 7 muskets 3 swords and 3 mules
 
Between Oke hill and drumington we took one batterry or entrenchments and between Nue Town and Oke hill we took another entrenchment that mounted 4 guns
 
From Drumington we marched 12 mildes to Pongatiegue where we stayed one night where we took turkeyes and chickens out of number we marched from there we marched 12 mildes to Frankton where we stayed one night when we took geese chickens turkeyes and pigs out of number we went from there to Estevile we took one cannon there /
