Dear Parents I will say one or two words and come to a hault so this will go out in the morning. I got a pass yesterday Sunday and went down to the landing found Monroe there all right he was just falling in for Dressparade and got excused we run round till night then went and see them draw a S[?] and got some fish for breakfast. I stayed all night we had so much visiting to do we couldent spend time to write he said he would write soon. he is in most magnificent quarters and having a bulley time of it I think he will be at home in less than a month he is in good health & doing well / he is comeing up to see me to morrow if he can get a pass. Dont have any trouble about either of us for we are all right. Mother I'm sorry you did not tend to sending those books diarys to M_ J_ Elliot for she was agoing to make up a little something from them you dont wait any longer send them right away. Send me a cap box full of that quinine for my nose is terrible sore. I want some for the benefit I'v wrote once or twise I hope this will find you well & in beter health than when you last wrote S. Ingerham has reinlisted for I left Washington Miron is there to work in the blacksmith shop $45. per month
