            Dear Mother
                        Once more I write to inform you that I am alive We have been here several days waiting to build a bridge. We are three days march south of Nashville. I have not the slightest idea where we will go to before we are through this campaign. I have no time to write much now. I will write as often as possible Give my best respects to all and believe

we had forgotten to say any thing about Martha she has four children two boyes two girls her babe is seven weeks old she is quite smart for her we should be glad to hear from you as often as convient
 
we will try and not be so neglectful   write soon
