Dear Father
                        We still hold our own own & a little more. Our Company are badly cut up. we have lost 5 killed & 9 wounded as far as heard from Cunningham is wounded severely yet I think he will get well I have the ague. I was in the first day of the fight & had some good shots at not more than 6 rods Frank is well & with me quite often he has not been in the fight nor will he at all 
 
Give my love to all & excuse hast Our loss is quite heavy & that of the Enemy must exceed ours I am sure Love to All & I Remain Your Affect
