Elizabeth Wiley to Elizabeth B. Harris, undated
My dear Lizzie, Sylvia is so bent on going up to your house that she is going right off this morning for fear she may be disappointed. I have left every thing to sit down and write you a few lines. We haven't heard from you since Sammy was at your house, and then Mr. H. and yourself were both rather unwell, and March not much better, I am very anxious to hear indeed. Mary has been quite unwell all the forepart of the week, but is much better now, and I hope will improve. the baby too has been disordered in her bowels, but not sick—she is better yesterday & this morning. Alfred's sores are much better & he is very well. Billy is pretty well again—and all the rest are well here I believe. We all spent the day with Sallie Thursday. Sammy and Billy went to town in the evening and found John very sick, he has had two chills, had missed it when they left, late in the evening, we haven't heard since. I would go in to day and see him if the weather would admit. Billy will go in some time to day. I suppose poor Brown Dickinson is dead. Your pa has been to Augusta this week, spent a night and day at Mr Lazris, all were well. he seemed to have enjoyed his trip very much, but is not very well this morning. Mary is going to trim her bonnet to day, and if the weather is suitable, some of us will go to church to morrow. hope we shall see you there—if not, when are you coming down. I should like to have a few of your cherries, if I could get them / but Sylvia don't seem to think she can bring them. perhaps I will have a chance to send next week. Your pa and Billy are both talking about going up to your house next week—if they are not all gone. Mary will her trunk key by S and wishes you to send her a night gown & chemise. hope your sick ones will allow Mr. Harris and yourself to visit us early next week. Mary and Mary send love to you. In haste—your Mother—
