Dear father and mother Brothers and sister to I seat my self to right a few lines to let you no that I am well and hope thes few lines will find you the same to but not in the same plase for i set on alog buy a fire righting and it is cold as hell to I got aletter from you last night and was very glad to hear from you all and to hear you was all well to for i am alittel sick but not enough to make it pay / very well thoe you said you had swaped cows with Normon Allen that is all right isupose dont you you said something about buing alettus a harness for my colt Do jest as you think best for i may never see it so eney that you like will do for me i dont want a very costley on you no as good on as that was when it was new that Jno got of Charls McKeney enwhare from 15 to 25 dolars sute your self about it you no jest let me no how much i have saved / sence ilef home in your next letter if you please to and be shure and send me somthing so i can get my discharge get it of Docter Backus tell him to keep still about it to Be shure and do the best you can for me
