Dear parents tis with great pleasher that
 
I right to let you
No that i am well and hope thes few lines will find you the same to Had most forgot that i had got a father & Mother in the world It has ben some time sence i have rote to you and so i will now i receved your letter 7 or 8 days ago and was glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well for i was and am now to and shall be to by golley dont you think so to We have ben paid of but i dident send home but 6 dolars for i was sick about 8 days so kep 20 dolars and that aint mower / than i oughto have neather for if eney one is sick hear he hasto have somthing oar he may be sick longer than he wanto be Whiske was all that maid me get well so soon i boght 7 bottels of whiske at $1.25 a bottel and onley 3 pints in them eather i hadto drink most all the time to save the feaver and ague from me
