Catharine dear wife this evening I rite a few lines to you to let you know that I am in common heath and hope these few lines may find you and willey well Furst I say that I got here on Saturday morning safe and sound but very tiard there is fifteen of us here now and ten more to come yet we think they will all get here this week and if they do perhaps we will start soon and maby not for Fitzpatrick got in a fuss in the regment and is sent off to be gone till after court marshall

so he wont start till he gets a letter from Col Baxter he says he will have us all examined by the Drs some time this week and every man that the board says is not able to go will get a certificate from him and go back home. the men that is here looks so bad it makes me think my chance is bad if I had a certificate I would have to walk home for I hant got money enough to go on the stage I want you to get them shoes from Jo Wallace and send them to me for my boots is breaking to pieces send them by the stage / in care of Lieut. R. Fitzpatrick at Marshall I have found a few pair choice cotton cards here at 35 dollars a pair I want you to borrow the money and send here and get a pair be quick as as you can if you can get the money here in ten days you will get them if not the chance will be bad it is a high price for cards but I dont care my money is drawed for me up to the 1st of this month and I will send it home as soon as I get there then you can pay the borrowed money you you give the money to old Jackson / and take his receipt for it in hast and I will get the cards and send them to you in safety Send the money to Lieut. R. Fitzpatrick for me at Marshall I want you to be sure to get that money and send here and if I go home from here I will send for my money that is in camp we have a good house to stay in in town and nothing to do but cook and eat we have plenty to eat and it is good rite soon (Dr Givens gave me a fine large pocket book) no more A S Loden
