Parsons Stewart Pratt
Parsons Stewart Pratt was born around 1822 in Sauquoit, New York, to Rufus and Bertha Pratt. He was ordained as a minister on September 26, 1847. He married Martha Ann Pollard, and they had at least four children: Anna, born around 1848; Carrie, born on August 22, 1849; Ada, born around 1853; and Bertha, born around 1859. They lived in Winfield, New York, until the 1850s, when they moved to Dorset, Vermont. By 1860, they owned $600 of personal property. A decade later, they owned $1,500 of personal property. A local writer described him as a “good preacher [and] a good citizen, always ready to give good counsel and to promote every good word and work.” His wife died in 1897, and he died of malnutrition in Dorset on April 8, 1906.
