The Exposition of the Fyrst Epistle of Seynt Jhon and An Exposicion vppon the v. vi. vii. Chapters of Mathew represent Tyndale’s only published sustained biblical exegesis. Through them, it has been argued, one is able to glean Tyndale’s “complete theology,” and they are key to understanding Tyndale’s debts to and departures from Wycliffite, Lutheran, and Swiss theology.
