Sarah Francis Battles (maiden name: Finley) of Cass County, Michigan, was born on October 26, 1851. She married James T. Battles in Niles on April 14, 1867, and together they had six children: Eva, born December 1, 1867; Amilla, born January 28, 1871; Lansing, born September 18, 1872; Thomas A., born November 9, 1874; Edith May, born March 2, 1880; and John, born December 12, 1883. She died on April 22, 1897.
