Martha Carr

Martha Carr (maiden name: Butler) married Miles Carr on June 29, 1856, in Ross County, Ohio.  A Reverend Robert Allen presided over the wedding. Together they had four children: Jane Ann, born April 5, 1857; Zachariah, born December 17, 1860; Susan Ellen, born October 17, 1862; and Julia Frances, born August 10, 1864. Following her husband's death on September 29, 1864, Carr married a Samuel Bayless on April 10, 1878. In 1891, she attempted to receive a pension after her second husband either died or divorced her. However her application was rejected as her husband had not completed the ninety days of service as required by the 1890 pension law. It is unclear when or where she died.
