Dollie Turner

Dollie (Dolly) Turner (maiden name: Winston) was born into slavery. She married William Turner, probably in Pike County, Missouri, and they had fourteen children together: Georgianna, Leah, William ("Billie"), Edward, Emma, Sallie, Shelton, Noble, Lewis, Ester, Saw, Infant, Dollie, and Barbara. William left during the war to serve in the Union army. The family reunited after the war and continued to live in Pike County. On September 2, 1866, Dollie and William were legally married by a Black Methodist Episcopal preacher in Troy, Lincoln County, Missouri. They lived in the same household as William's brother and parents. Dollie died by 1910, presumably in Pike County.
