Tennessee Butler Hughes
Tennessee Butler Hughes (maiden name: Cage) was born around 1854 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. She was the third wife of Henry Hughes. They got married on March 7, 1885, in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, and had three children together: McHenry, born in 1887; Miller, born in 1889; and Cora, born in 1891. Her husband died on October 14, 1910, and she eventually secured a widow's pension. By 1934, she was receiving $40 per month and living with her daughter Cora. She died of "mitral insufficiency" on March 27, 1934, near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
