Peggy Hughes (maiden name: Davis or Douglass) was the first wife of Henry Hughes. The couple got married around 1852 or 1853 and had a daughter named Evelyn, whose birth date is unknown. Some sources claim that they had another child, whose name is also unknown. Henry left her while they were still enslaved in Missouri. Following his death, she unsuccessfully applied for a widow's pension. Nothing else is known about her life.
