FILE WITH REPLY REFFERING TO CIVIL WAR DIVISION WID. ORIG. 1118700.

ELISA A. TAYLOR, JAMES T. S. TAYLOR,
CO. , E. 2nd, U. S. C. INF.
STATE OF VIRGINIA,
COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE, TO-WIT:

This day personally appeared before me Thos. J Wood, a Notary Public for the County aforesaid; in the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, the undersigned Dr. F. C. McCue and Dr. G. R. Ferguson, who made oath that they have been residents of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, for many years, that they are well acquainted with Elisa A. Taylor widow of James T. S. Taylor, deceased, that the said James T. S. Taylor died on the 4th day of January, 1918, and that they viewed the body of the deceased after his death.

Second: That the said James T. S. Taylor and Elisa A. Taylor have lived to-gether as husband and wife, in the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, for at least twenty or twenty-five years to a certain knowledge of affiants, and from information they believe for a great deal longer. That they were reconized as husband and wife and a old and respected couple in said City.

Third: That affiants cannot speak from any court records but they are reliably informed, and do believe that said Elisa A. Taylor and J. T. S. Taylor, her husband, were never divorced, for they lived to-gether as husband and wife in said City up to the day of his death before given.

Affiants are themselves aged respectively 44 and 41 years, have been since their birth residents  of said  City or County of which said City is a part, (practically all their lives). They have known said couple almost since they were old enough to remember as the said Taylor’s were of an older generation than affiants, and they have every reason to believe that each and every one of the statements aforesaid made on information of others are true.

Given under my hand seal this 15th day of October 1918. My term expires Nov. 8/19.

Thos. J. Wood.
Notary Public.
