Dear Father Sisters and brother hoping to find you in good health as this leaves me at preasent i received your letter on the 31st and i was glad to hear from you and you say you should like to come and see me well the best way to come here is to take the 4 Avenue stage to south Ferry and take the boat to Vanderbelts landing and be sure and take the right boat and come early for the train leaves at 10.30 and return 1.42 and the fare is altogether 21cts 6cts for the boat and 15 for cars and this is the best time you / come for there is 4 hours difference in the trains we expect to be paid some time next week and the pay rool was sent to New York and when you come bring me a fine comb an tobacco i have received an office of Coporal but i will resign it for they have no more pay than private the nights are getting verry cold and we have to go into the tents again for some men say the barracks are louesy and we expect to leave on the 10 of november we are all transfered to the 57 Regiment you have about 2 minutes walk to the Camp from where the cars stops /
So no more at preasent but remains your affectionate brother

PS be sure and be down to the boat early and arrive at vanderbets landing and take the 10.30 train you have only to walk a few yards to the cars
