Dear Madam
I received your letter inquiring about your brother I went down to fort monroe and to both hospitals and cannot find anything about him it may be that he is gone to baltimore for a great many wounded and sick have been sent there I will keep your letter and if I find him out I will send you word. Please give my love to Mrs Hyde and daughters and likewise to my friend Ellie Hyde tell them I would have wrote before but I did not know where to direct a letter I would be happy to hear from them and I will answer it
