Dear Parents
                        Well I have jest got a letter from you dated March 20 and was glad to hear from you and to hear you all was well and hope thes few lines will find you all still enjoing the same blessing for it leaves me most well and shall be well in a few days
 
Well you said if there was eney thing that I wanted to let you no so I will tis postage stamps for they air hard to be had hear but I dont think of eney thing elce that I want only to have wright twice a weeak for we shall soon be on the march so it will be hard for me to wright so / often as I do now but will wright jest as often as I can Well I was glad to hear you had sent me som mapel shugar for my mouth has waterd for som for the las 3 weeaks for I new that they was making it lik thunder and I should likto be up there to help but cant for they dont let sech felows as me go jest as they pleas they say thes Vetrans have goto earn som of that bounty but they wount get much of it out of me if I no my self which I think I do
 
Well you said that Alvira and hur man was up to your house to day I am glad that she is got pleased Well where is Edward Wood now Where does he work I should likto have him wright to me if you see him tell him to do so if he can / spend time to do so Well what do you entend to do this sumer with them 3 horses of yours they air big enough to earn ther living which they had oughto do tige hadent oughto do much for I want he should make somthing that will fetch a pile of money you had beter have Fany hav a colt if she will and the old mare to Well I am glad that Grammam has got beter ask hur if that 4 dolars don hur eney good that I give hur if so I am glad to no you said in one of your letters that Charly was gointo work out this sumer Let me tell you that he aint fit to hier out for all sumer and if he does work out eny let it be clost to home and let him work jest as he is aminto for / he aint tuff dont kill him when he is young if you do it will work him into the consumpion Now be shure and take my advise for he is a good boy and do the same by Franklin to for they air both young and good littel boys and I think a good deal of them both and mandy aint big enough to work so I dont worey about hur so much
 
Well we haint ben paid of yet nor signs of it yet But when we do I shall send you 45 or 100 dolars and that will help pay for the plase what you dont want use other ways for I dont want you should suffer if I no it you shant if it lays in my power to help it jest let me no what you concer lot to do this sumer if you have maid up your mind for I wanto see if you have maid a good choice or not Well how does the spring open up ther it dont look very good hear for the ground has ben coverd with snow for 3 days

Well I hafto take another sheat of paper to finish on Well I hav to day wrote to John Capen and if he dont answer it I will give him hell James McGibbon got your letter to night and he is well and so is Robert to and John Naylor to and John Lareby to and he sends his respects to you and and all of the boys has no you
 
Well what does the folks think of ous sence we left up there do they think that we war pirty tuff or not if so tell them to jest kiss our ass or not jest as they pleas for we dont care one dam for them for wheare ever we go we always rule and i think they found it to be so if they dident we will be up there som time to make them / bleave it shure as hell For they aint agointo kill ous all shure as Jule Wales always ses
 
Well give my love to Martin Mcmanes of the Brandon House and all my frends Take a good share your selfs Kiss the chrilden for me So no more at presant
