Alexander Roeser
Alexander Roeser was born on March 12, 1849, in Switzerland to Friedrich Roeser. He immigrated to America around 1851 and eventually settled in Tell, Indiana. By 1860, he was living with Swiss laborer Peter Weitner and Weitner’s wife Elizabeth. He married Maria Kuster on October 2, 1879, and they had six children together: Anna, born in March 1880, Elenora, born in February 1884, Alma, born in March 1886; Alexander, born in June 1889; and Frederick, born in October 1893. Roeser worked as a machinist. The family may have moved to Troy, Indiana, sometime in the late 1800s, but by 1910, they were back in Tell. Roeser died there of “cerebral apoplexy” on October 7, 1918.
