Camp Morten Indianapolis May 17 1862.
My dear Alexander Roeser
I was very much pleaced to recieve a letter from you & the news I have in my hands afforded me a great deal of plasure to be sure; thought I have not written to you yet, I have not forgotten you at all and ever not the Walle Mandy Rally Katter Falchli & Katter W2. ect ect.
I wished I could have you here for a few days to show you the Secessionists how we have got them inside the fence how they play at marbles & bat and balls. or how they doo backe their cornbread in their pans/
The fairground they are imprisoned in is 400 by 500 steps [three words in German, in script] is covered with beautifull black wallnut, elm, maple & other trees. the whole is surrounded by a board fence 8 feet high & then you ought to see our 10 fifers & 10 drummers nothing to say about hearing them
I hope that you will write to me often to let me know something about the Wallemandy Rally ect ect. dont forget the old Pigle & the little ones she must have now & then the sekel eber. Have you got your geograph if not let me know it. By this time you/can tacke care of your flower garden & have pretty flowers too I should like to see them. We go much fishing & swiming soldiers must do something to pass the time.
As I allready said I shall be very much pleaced if yo write to me often & remain in the meantime your
old friend George Oboussier
