Your letter of the [?] ult came to hand in due time after it was written It found me well and this leaves me the same I have no news of importance at present all is quiet along our lines at present but we are looking for a big fight to come off now All of the troops are actively ingaged in making preparations for the coming strugle I feel confident of success though it will be a very hard Battle. I got a long letter from J. S. a few days ago he was well accept his wound it was not well yet he was upon his way to Anderson he has got a detail of 70 days in the subsistant department at / Anderson and if his wound is not well when his time is out I suppose he will be detailed again. I was sorry to hear of Matison being so sick but was glad to hear that he was getting better Ann said for me to write to her but I have not got the time now as I have to write a letter to Sealy and I do not feel much like writing as I was up all night last night on picket without sleeping any at all so this must surfice for this time but I will write to her soon Tell her and all of the rest of the children to write that can write So I remain as ever your son J.
