            F.         Inv. herein—

A very disgusting thing took place here yesterday all the officers as near as I can find out recommended March for a Captaincy in the colored service!!!!
Prescott did the thing I suppose with his usual good nature Lt Stephenson must have been drunk.

You know all about the shameful manner in which M. conducted himself on the way home. I felt so much disgusted with the matter that I could not help ventilating my views upon the subject to friend Thomas (the Adj. Gen.) Most of the officers in the Brigade are delighted with Burdells return for during my fourteen days administration it is happened I had no Whiskey. What would Cobb have done had he been here? Yours in haste—
Isaiah F. Hoyt
