Isaiah F. Hoyt to Francis J. Parker, 17 May 1864
Fredericksburg, May 17th 1864.
My dear Sir,
I sent you a few days since lists of the casualties in the 32d and 9th to date and hope you got them. All the transportation lies on the heights in rear of the town and the troops are about ten miles away. Up to this time I understand our Reg. has lost 140 in killed and wounded and as soon as I can get to the Hos. Steward I will get a list of names. The 9th here lost 10 officers, the 32d five. Bancroft thigh, not severe—Hamilton, hip severe—Laurait, arm I think—Hudson both legs—Farnsworth neck.
I suppose they are all home by this time.
The 5th Corps draws rations for just one half the number it had on leaving Winter Quarters, but then there are doubtless many stragglers.
Prescott & Stephenson all right up to yesterday. Kingsbury is on Sweitzer's Staff and was knocked on by a shell but escaped with a slight contusion of the chest.
Yours in haste,
Isaiah F. Hoyt
